Honor a Hero Honor a Hero
Veterans Memorial Park stands as a symbol of our community’s gratitude for the men and women who have proudly served our nation. It is a place where residents gather to honor our veterans on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and throughout the year.
The City of Bangor is pleased to announce the Honor a Hero Campaign, a community fundraising initiative to install a new white vinyl memorial fence around Veterans Memorial Park. This project will enhance the beauty of the park, provide a respectful backdrop for the memorial, and create a lasting tribute to those who have served our country.
Rather than using taxpayer dollars, our goal is to complete this project entirely through the generosity of our community. Thanks to contractor estimates already received, we have established a fundraising goal of $5,000 to make this project a reality.
Enclosed you will find information about the campaign, available sponsorship opportunities, and a donation form. Whether your gift is made in honor of a veteran, in memory of a loved one, on behalf of your family or business, or simply to support this meaningful project, every contribution will help create a lasting legacy for Bangor.
If the campaign exceeds the amount needed to complete the fence project, any remaining funds will be dedicated exclusively to future improvements within Veterans Memorial Park, ensuring your donation continues to benefit this special place for years to come.
On behalf of the City of Bangor, I respectfully invite you to join us in honoring our veterans and strengthening one of our community’s most meaningful public spaces.
Thank you for your consideration and for your continued support of the City of Bangor. Together, we can create something our veterans, their families, and our community will be proud of for generations.
Sincerely,
Justin Weber

THANK YOU, BANGOR! ALL SIX MILITARY FLAGS ARE NOW SPONSORED!
The City of Bangor is excited to announce that all six branches of the United States military now have sponsors for their flags at Veterans Memorial Park!
Thanks to the generosity of our residents, businesses, and organizations, each military branch will be proudly represented during ceremonies and special events at the park.
Marine Corps — Punishers LEMC
U.S. Navy — Greg Mrykle
U.S. Air Force — Annie Funke
U.S. Space Force — Jen's Chocolate Devours
U.S. Coast Guard — Pati's Shear Styles
Each sponsor generously contributed towards the purchase of a military branch flag that will be displayed on its own flagpole at Veterans Memorial Park.
With the new white vinyl fence installed, permanent Veterans Honor Post plaques being prepared, and all six military flags sponsored, we are getting closer to completing the improvements made possible through our Honor a Hero Campaign.
We are hopeful that everything will be ready for our Veterans Day ceremony and ribbon cutting on November 11th!
To everyone who has contributed to this project, whether through donations, sponsorships, or support, THANK YOU! Your generosity is helping us create a beautiful and meaningful place to honor the men and women who have served our country.
