The Bangor Police Department has a long standing history within the Bangor Community. The Bangor Police Department provides 24 hour coverage to the community, every day of the year. The Bangor Police Department responds to an average of over 2,000 calls for service annually.
Chief Weber was born and raised in Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School in 2002. Chief Weber became a certified police officer in 2005 and has worked in various roles throughout his law enforcement career. Chief Weber was a prior Detective Sergeant and was a member of the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force where he investigated violent crimes such as homicides, bank robberies, kidnappings and large quantity drug investigations. Chief Weber was also a member of the SWAT team as well as a U.S. Army veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Since Chief Weber has begun overseeing the Bangor Police Department, he has created a new department mission. The Bangor Police Department’s mission is to provide a safe and orderly community for residents and visitors by protecting life, liberty, and property through the use of proactive policing and crime prevention.
Chief Weber says, we now have full time police officers who are caring, professional and compassionate to the community. Everyday my officers walk through our halls, they see and read a new slogan I placed on the wall that says, “Through these halls, walk the finest Police Officers.” I believe that and I want them to believe it.
Chief Weber was able to reinitiate the School Resource Officer Program within the Bangor Public Schools. With that program, a certified officer is readily available to the schools, staff and students for any police services and resources.
Chief Weber also encourages creating community relationships and has already implemented a brand new community outreach and crime prevention program. It is the first outreach program from the Bangor Police Department. So far we have created a mobile booth that we can set up at community events and staff with officers who engage with visitors while handing out treats, toys, and informational items. We also intend to host a community picnic soon and possibly will host other events such as a 5k run.
Chief Weber says, we are going to continue improving and providing our services to this community.
